How to accomplish your goals and defeat self sabotage.

Day after day you think to yourself, I can’t get out of this rut and I’m not going anywhere in life. My job is a dead end and I’m always broke.  The relationships I have with others make me depressed and angry.  I feel like I am empty and running on fumes.

This doesn’t have to be.  The choice is yours to start making a change.  End the cycle by taking the first step. Be realistic and don’t overwhelm yourself by setting a goal that needs time to develop.

Any goal you want to reach needs a plan. Whether it’s big or small you have to start somewhere.

I know when my brain starts brewing up an idea or a goal to accomplish, if i don’t start the process with a small step, it’ll never happen.

First of all whatever goal you want to accomplish use the resources around you to see how others accomplished their goals.  When I wanted to organize my bathroom, I Googled “How to organize your bathroom.”  It’s really that simple. Now on a larger scale I wanted to become a teachers assistant in NY, what did I do? I Googled, “How to become a teachers assistant in NY.”

You have to start somewhere and if you’re anything like me, you’re going to need some help with starting off in the right direction.  If you don’t know, then just ask.

I can give you so my instances in my life that I needed direction on how to accomplish a goal but the list is never ending. What I want to express to you is that anything is possible but start small so you don’t sabotage yourself or idea by stressing out over it.

1. Start small. Get a piece of paper and pen, and write down what it is you want to accomplish. Having it written down your more apt to staying on track rather than keeping the thought in your head that will probably be forgotten or pushed aside.

2. Research on “how to.” If there are others writing about it because they’ve done it, then that’s the type of references you want to follow.  Everyone is different but if you take bits and pieces of how people accomplished their goals, then your bound to come up with a plan that’ll work for you.

3. Set your wheels in motion. Follow the steps and review your goals each day.  Repetition works great for me and it could help you.

Every goal needs a plan. Write the goal down that you want to accomplish. Make a plan and start the process small.

Good luck and if you need a pep talk, I’m your cheerleader!!

Lunch in upstate NY, Casa Too Mucha

For a Wednesday a.k.a. hump day, I must say it turned out to be a great day. My kids had a snow day, the office was slow, and I didn’t have to substitute teach either. Woo hoo! So we went to lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant called Casa Too Mucha. The title is very deceiving because its far from expensive.

The menu ranges from Mexican food to anything and everything else. Everything on the menu is homemade and delicious! My favorite is the chicken chimichanga. Oi!  And yes they still have their Christmas tree up but that makes the place even more special. The owners are so welcoming and the place is cozy as heck.

Since we had a little time to kill after lunch we did a little shopping at Marshall’s in Rome, NY. If once or twice a month I can go in there just to catch some deals I am more than a happy camper. Seriously, you can’t beat their prices on some of their stuff. Good quality leggings for $5.99 really??? And a sweet little tunic for $9.99. How can you go wrong??

I love finding good buys. Two recommendations if you’re ever in the upstate NY area. Casa Too Mucha for a great meal and Marshall’s for great deals on household items, clothing, etc. You can’t go wrong.

The weekend is almost here and we are suppose to be going to the movies and out to eat. I’ll be doing a movie critic review as well as dining review again this weekend! Enjoy your day everyone!

The choice is yours so who is to say…

Seriously, who is to say that you have to like, love, or do something that you don’t want to? Other than obeying the law, everything and  every choice in life is yours and yours only to make. Some are good choices and some are bad, but they are yours. You’re the one who has to reap the rewards of your choices or pay the consequences.

Okay, what’s the point and what am I trying to get at right?  I have been a NY Giants fan  since I was 15-years-old. And a true fan at that. When they had a bad season other Giants fan ridiculed and said they suck. Me, on the other hand continuously praised them and stuck by their side through thick and thin. In my opinion, that is a true dedicated fan.

Three and a half years ago I met my boyfriend (Mike) who is a Packers fan. All though my love and dedication for the Giants have  never wavered, I did however gained a new respect for the Packers. I love the way they play. Rodgers, Jordy, Clay, Jake, etc., I must say they have it going on. Not only do I enjoy watching the team but the fans are so dedicated and support their team with unconditional love. How awesome is that?

My gripe is that people say there’s no way you can share your dedication to both the GMEN and Packers. You’re a trader. No, no, no. That’s not the case. Who is to say that I can’t share my love for both teams? Is there a fan police patrol that I’m unaware of???  In the scheme of things it is really ridiculous that there should even be a discussion about this kind of thing but then again I guess that’s what makes our world go around. I can love both teams and that is that.

But  “the choice is yours,” goes for anything and everything. You can love or do whatever YOU want to do. My whole life I was a pushover. I didn’t have the ability to say no or voice my opinion. Why?? I was afraid and didn’t have the confidence.

I can say over the years I learned to say what I wanted to and I learned to say no. I know it took me 40 years to do it but better late than never. I think it was kind of an instantaneous action. I just got fed up and said no more. I was suffering from my inability and so were my kids. The one thing I didn’t want to happen was for them to follow in my foot steps but I already had seen my bad trait being absorbed by them. Not good.

Learn to say NO

  1. First step is don’t be afraid. I think that is where it all stems from. We are afraid to say no. What are your fears and reason from holding you back? If you said no, what are the consequences or gains from doing so? I’d say it’s a big gain from the start because you are doing and saying what YOU want to do. That in itself is a HUGE accomplishment. Congratulations for taking that step in the right direction.
  2. Realize that it’s okay to say no. Like I said before it’s your choice and no one else’s. It’s your body, mind, and decision. No one is going to benefit from saying no but you and that is a good thing. It’s time to take care of yourself. You only live on this planet one time so as quick as you can start doing what you want to.
  3. The first time you start saying no acknowledge the feeling you get from it. How did it feel? I know when I started saying no it was more than just a feeling. It was a life altering change for me. By saying no it was a chain effect. I felt like my confidence level went through the roof and that was monumental for me. Confidence is a key factor to accomplish anything in life. I truly believe that.
  4. Go with your gut. If you have that feeling way deep down in your gut that something is telling you no, then go with it. It sounds like such a cliche to some but I’m an avid fan of going with your gut instinct. Trust me it works.

I hope I helped someone, anyone with issues about saying no. Remember you have everything to gain from it. Good luck.

Self Sabotage, No Money but Wants Mo Money..it can be done

I feel like my wheels are always spinning.  I seem to never get out of this vicious cycle of feeling poor. I am always asking myself, where in the world does my money go? Out the window that’s where. I spend it foolishly on nonsense and that’s about to end!

So I found this free budget app called Daily Budget.  (No this isn’t an advertisement for them). It has a little piggy bank  as its icon and I found it very simple to use.

First though I have a planner that I buy from Walmart every year to keep my appointments, subbing jobs, and ahh yes of course my bills in.  The planner cost $8 (if that)and without it I’d be lost.  It doesn’t have any bells or whistles. It’s just easy to follow because it has a month at a view glance which is great because you can see everything coming up right in front of you.

I love the idea of putting stickers in here or using bright colored markers but in reality I don’t have the time right now. That’s all a part of my bigger picture and my time management adventure that I’ll be tackling soon.

Sorry to cut this post short so for now I’m going to leave you with this but at the end of the week I’ll update you on my budgeting progress!!
